SAPP2R displayed at the 2020 Ballarat Begonia Festival launch

The Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) Sewer Access Point Penetration Review Robot (SAPP2R) was featured at the launch of the 2020 Ballarat Begonia Festival.

IWN member organisation Central Highlands Water (CHW) demonstrated the project on Friday as they showcased the work CHW is doing to deliver on their key messages  safe, clean and quality water to Ballarat and the wider community.

SAPP2R was designed to collect data and send them, safely and securely, to an operator above ground. It tests sewer concrete for signs of H2S degradation and was given a field test at CHW in June.

Jess Egan, CHW’s Technical Specialist - Asset Strategy, was in charge of managing the demonstration and said it was exciting to be involved in the launch.

“Partnering with the City of Ballarat for the Ballarat Begonia Festival allows us to showcase the great work CHW with a focus around women in water and our theme for this year’s festival of Smart, Safe, Sustainable.

“It was great to be involved with the festival launch, and demonstrating SAPP2R provided an opportunity to talk about how technology is being used to improve service delivery while providing value for money within our region.”

Jacqueline O’Neill, General Manager of Customer and Community added: “We are delighted to be involved in the Ballarat Begonia Festival as a major community partner.

“For the festival launch, we showcased Women in Water and three key areas of the organisation: our NATA accredited laboratory, environmental management, as well as technology and engineering.

CHW is looking forward to engaging with the community at this year’s event and we invite attendees to visit us on site and learn more about how we deliver safe, clean and quality water and how you can be water wise at home and work.”
