Central Highlands Water to show off benefits of their IWN collaboration at Ballarat Begonia Festival
Central Highlands Water (CHW) will be demonstrating the Intelligent Water Networks’ (IWN) Sewer Access Point Penetration Review Robot (SAPP2R) at the Ballarat Begonia Festival.
CHW has been partnered with the City of Ballarat for 20 successful years and this the corporation will be sharing their smart, safe and sustainable approach to delivering quality water to Ballarat and the wider community. At the launch of the festival, Central Highlands Water will showcase four key areas of the organisation: their NATA accredited laboratory, environmental management and technology and engineering.
Part of that includes SAPP2R. The device was designed to quantify eliminate the problem of H2S degradation of sewer access points, but using a probe to sense how soft concrete in the sewer is. It then collects three pieces of this data and sends the information to an operator – who is safely above ground. The robot facilitates rapid, safe and repeatable analysis of SAP condition and underwent a final evaluation with CHW in June. The data is then used to prioritise and remedial repairs.
IWN supporter and CHW’s Technical Specialist - Asset Strategy Jess Egan will demonstrate SAPP2R at the festival launch and will give the public a hands on indication of the benefits that the IWN collaboration brings to each water corporation and their customers. public.
IWN Program Director Dean Barnett advised that Sewer Access Point Penetration Review Robot was built to manage a water industry problem, prioritise repair expenditure and to keep our water industry staff safe.
