WHAT ARE YOU STUDYING AT MONASH?

I’m doing my Professional Year at Monash, focusing on civil engineering.

WHAT MADE YOU PUT UP YOUR HAND FOR A WORK PLACEMENT WITH IWN?

IWN provided opportunities where I could use my passion for civil engineering and leverage my critical thinking and problem-solving skills by contributing to a real-world industry environment.

WHAT WERE YOUR HIGHLIGHTS HERE?

During my placement, different kinds of engineering duties were assigned to me. I had guidance and mentors, but I did have to make decisions on my own. Through these experiences, I developed a sense of leadership, confidence and responsibility. These traits are invaluable when it comes to a career and IWN is the perfect place to learn and develop them.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN THE WATER SECTOR?

I am interested in stormwater. As part of my master’s degree, I worked on an individual project over two years to identify opportunities and barriers to integrated water management in regional Victoria.

I am currently working on a project to identify and recommend market-available stormwater management technologies for Troups Creek in Narre Warren. I have learned a lot about the water sector during both these projects. I learned it is all about innovating new and improved solutions that help make everyday life a little easier and safer for everyone and I would love to be part of it by working in this field.
