WHAT WERE THE HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR IWN WORK PLACEMENT?

Kam: I have been helping the biosolids team research activated carbon, which has the potential to turn biosolids into added-value products and solve several problems for the water industry.

I also really enjoyed the events and webinars that I attended through IWN. Learning about trends and technologies in the water sector was inspiring.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN THE WATER SECTOR?

Amrit: Yes, from my time with IWN I have learnt there is a lot of scope for technology in the water industry. I would definitely like to work in the sector and be part of new and innovative projects.

Kam: I am especially interested in working on site in water treatment plants. I am not sure exactly what area, but it does interest me.

AND A WORD FROM US…

At IWN, we’re passionate about helping work placement students gain knowledge about the Victorian water industry. IWN Program Director Dean Barnett said it provided an opportunity to share information on a range of industry programs and technology.

“We also get the opportunity to see our work through the eyes of the next generation, who are yet to enter the sector,” Dean said. “Often they bring a perspective we haven’t considered.”
