LET’S START WITH THE PERSONAL. TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I grew up in Ballarat and moved to the big smoke in my 20s before settling back here. I live with my husband and our three boys. This time of year (pandemic aside), our lives are consumed by soccer and when the warmer weather starts, we switch focus and spend time up at our property on the Murray - water skiing, fishing and relaxing. I’m super proud of my family unit.

WHAT’S YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND?

I’ve been in various customer facing roles since my early 20s. I started at Central Highlands Water nine years ago. Since then, I have transitioned into a business analyst role as part of a project implementation for a new CRM/billing system. More recently in my current role as Product & Service Lead, I have undertaken more project management responsibilities with a clear focus on customer outcomes and experiences. I’m a certified Agile practitioner.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DO EACH DAY (BUT TO YOUR GRANDMA)?

I would tell my grandma not to worry about her water bill, etc. because I’m taking care of it for her by making CHW a better place for all our customers and managing all their needs and expectations. I do this by listening to what our customers are telling us and then managing those expectations in order to improve the overall service we deliver.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE AS AN IWN CHAMPION

I started shadowing our previous champion, Jess Eagan, as 2IC from the middle of last year. I formally became CHW’s champion in November 2019. I joined the program to gain a much broader understanding of the water industry, particularly in these challenging times of climate change. I enjoy innovation and appreciate the networking opportunities. I want to take the learning and development back into CHW and apply it in every day situations.

WHAT IWN PROGRAMS INTEREST YOU THE MOST?

I’m interested in IWN collaboration and knowledge sharing - learning from others is such a valuable tool for me. I’m personally interested in technological innovations, like IWN’s Edge technologies, and once I hear about something, I just need to know how it works, what it can do, who benefits, why … and so on!

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR TIME AS AN IWN CHAMPION?

I want to have a broader understanding of our industry in general and the positive impacts it can make on our lives. With that comes the opportunity to make great personal networks and to continue to develop my leadership skills by learning from others.

WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?

My teen. He doesn’t seem to know what an alarm is. On a serious note, family are definitely my drivers. I’m lucky, I enjoy my job and contributing towards making a difference so it’s easy to go to work.
