Energy and Carbon OzWater '19 paper accepted

The Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) have had a paper from the Energy and Carbon program accepted at OzWater ’19.

‘Opportunities for Reduced Electricity Costs Using Renewable Energy and Optimised Plant Operations’ involved RMIT University, North East Water and IWN and found that participation in the wholesale electrical market for the purchase and sale of electricity offers industrial customers significant opportunities for cost savings.

In September 2017, 42 kilowatts of solar and 40 kilowatt hours of battery storage were installed behind the meter for the Victorian water sector through the IWN group. The purpose was to test the value of energy storage for a water treatment plant.

John Day, on behalf of IWN and North East Water, will be presenting the findings on day three of OzWater..
