Contaminants of Concern

To create opportunities to invest in innovative research and the development of tools and technology that help better identify and manage risks relating to Contaminants of Concern (CoCs).

This program will focus on the priority classes of contaminants that have been identified by IWN members, which in order of priority are:

  • PFAS (and other industrial chemicals)
  • Algae and pathogens
  • Pest control products
  • Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (including AMR)
  • Microplastics, nanomaterials and nanoparticles

Prioritising Contaminants and Risk

This stream focuses on identifying the compounds that are of most concern across the industry and developing methods, frameworks, tools and technologies to help assess and manage risk.

Knowledge and Capacity Building

This stream focuses on uplifting members knowledge by providing lunch and learns, newsletters, a knowledge library, and developing tailored training programs.

Knowledge Brokering 

This stream focuses on establishing relationships and developing collaborative partnerships with industry, researchers and regulators.
